Paddington Station Receives Gift & Decorative Accessories Award

2014PaddingtonAwardNEW YORK, NY – Paddington Station, an Ashland, OR, gift store owned by Pam and Don Hammond, took home top honors for Store Events in Gifts and Decorative Accessories magazine’s Retailer Excellence Award competition. The award was presented to Pam Hammond, in front of a major cross section of the gift trade industry at the 63rd annual Retailer Excellence Awards Gala in New York City. Pam was joined on the awards stage by her daughter Kelly and son Nick, who are both involved in the business.

Paddington Station’s year-long celebration of its 40th anniversary impressed the Retail Excellence Awards (REA) judges for its series of events, including monthly themed events in collaboration with other local businesses (Headed by toy buyer and assistant floor manager Stefanie Nagata), as well as three larger store celebrations (collaborated by the entire staff), all designed to foster goodwill within the community. In presenting the Award, it was noted that “Store events are not just about selling, but valuing customers and the community and having a little bit of fun to boot.” And that’s just what Paddington Station did.Established in 1917, Gifts and Decorative Accessories magazine is the leading trade publication for independent specialty retailers in the gift, stationery and home decor industry. The Retailer Excellence Awards were established in 1951 to provide a platform to honor outstanding creative retailers, showcase their achievements and provide inspiration to other retailers just like them.
